Full Time

Spanish and English Bilingual Teacher

To assist in providing a safe, reliable, and nurturing playgroup and after-school childcare environment for children ages birth to age six. This position will encourage developmentally appropriate activities for the whole child, including, but not limited to playgroups, field trips, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, and literacy enrichment. Additionally, this position will assist with outreach responsibilities such as assisting parents with class sign-ups, paperwork, and any other needed communication.

Assistant Aquatics Director

This is a year-round, full-time position that is benefit-eligible. The Assistant Aquatics Director will help supervise and assist with all day-to-day operations of the pool, which includes coaching, swim lessons, and general pool upkeep. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must.

Part-Time

Nantucket Aquatics Assistant Coach

The assistant coach will work alongside the head coach of Nantucket Aquatics to oversee practices and travel swim meets. The ideal candidate will have experience working with both age group and senior level athletes. Nantucket Aquatics swim season runs September-July with practices after school and Saturdays (as well as monthly off-island competitions). Candidates must be willing to work afternoon and weekend hours.

Spanish Instructor

The Spanish instructor is responsible for providing Spanish instruction to adult students whose primary language is English. The Spanish instructor will be responsible for curriculum development, evaluation of students’ progress, and accurate maintenance of all students’ records. Classroom instruction should be interactive and incorporate a variety of teaching techniques, materials, and resources. The classes meet on weekday evenings.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) GED Instructor

Responsible for teaching basic skills to students with varying academic levels while integrating GED skills, reading and math skills, social justice and community issues, and culture. Helps students meet necessary goals and qualify to get a GED. Prepares students to take the GED exam. At the beginning of the course, assess each student’s academic capabilities. These initial assessments help to customize their learning programs, lesson plans, and teaching methods to suit each student’s precise needs. Regular tests allow the instructor to evaluate student progress and modify lesson plans and learning goals based on what’s working and what’s not. Works under the direct supervision and leadership of the GED Coordinator.

Extended Day Lead Teacher

The lead teacher will create and run programming, oversee Extended Day staff, and actively participate in Extended Day coverage for kindergarten students. This program is offered from the end of the school day through pick-up by the parent/guardian from 2-5 p.m. The lead teacher will encourage developmentally appropriate activities for the whole child, including, but not limited to field trips, arts & crafts, outdoor activities, and literacy enrichment.

Dance Instructor

To teach dance classes at Nantucket Community School. Dance style and age groups are based on instructor preference. The position will provide each dancer with an environment filled with opportunity, consistency, encouragement, and the direction they need to progress and develop their dance technique.

Seasonal

Summer Boost Classroom Teacher

The classroom teacher is responsible for planning and executing all aspects of their Summer Boost classroom. Each classroom teacher will work closely with the Summer Boost team to provide content that prepares students for their kindergarten year. This staff member reports directly to the NCS Early Childhood Program Coordinator.

Summer Boost Classroom Teaching Assistant

The classroom teaching assistant is responsible for supporting students in the Summer Boost classrooms. Each teaching assistant will work closely with the Summer Boost team to prepare students for their kindergarten year. This staff member takes instruction from the classroom teacher and reports directly to the NCS Early Childhood Program Coordinator.

Assistant Basketball Instructor

This position assists the Lead Basketball Instructor during the Basketball Clinic day. Hours for the camp are 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will assist with the basketball program, as well as activity support (including gathering supplies and equipment, setting up, and directing participants). The main duty of this position is to work alongside the Lead Basketball Instructor during clinic hours to provide support in lessons, demonstrations, and coaching.

Lead Tennis Instructors

Nantucket Community School is seeking seasonal tennis instructors. The pay range is $22 to $26 per hour, commensurate with experience. Candidates will be expected to work a flexible schedule Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Dates of employment are June 2024 through August 2024. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Assistant Tennis Instructors

This is a seasonal, full-time position. Tennis Instructors will help assist and/or lead tennis lessons. Duties may also include answering phones and general court upkeep. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must. Must be 16 years of age or older.

Lead and Assistant Camp Counselors

Counselors will be expected to supervise and engage children in the Nantucket Community
School’s ACKventure and ACKventure Jr. day camps through hands-on activities, projects, and games. Counselors will work under the direct supervision of the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director. ACKventure Camp will be based out of the Nantucket Public School campuses with weekly off-campus field trips.

Summer Swim Instructor

Learn to swim instructors are tasked with teaching children elementary swimming skills. Instructors will lead classes with up to four students in 30-minute increments for varying levels and abilities. Instructors will be expected to communicate the Nantucket Community Pool Learn to Swim curriculum with our students and caregivers, as well as provide weekly progress reports. Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours Monday through Friday.
