Colleges use ACCUPLACER to assess your skill level in reading, writing, and math to determine if you’re ready to take courses that will earn you credits at that school. If you show proficiency in a subject, you won’t have to take developmental courses and can start earning credits right away that count toward a degree or certificate.
ACCUPLACER is the most powerful tool available to help colleges assess student readiness for introductory credit-bearing courses and make reliable placement decisions. The tests include texts and tasks students will likely encounter in first-year college courses, and the math content is more aligned to state college and career readiness standards.
The ACCUPLACER web-based study app features official practice tests you can take on a computer, smartphone, or tablet. You’ll get answer explanations to increase your understanding, and because the sample tests are similar to the real thing, you’ll know what to expect on test day.

The Nantucket Community School has registered ServSafe proctors who can proctor both written and online ServSafe exams once the ServSafe online training has been completed. The ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination (ServSafe Manager Exam) is available in:
Online: English, Spanish, and Chinese.
Print: English, Spanish/English, Korean/English, Chinese/English, French Canadian/English, Japanese/English, and Large Print.
The Nantucket Community School provides proctoring for both computer and paper-based exams in accordance with your institution’s requirements. If your school requires special testing software, please contact our office in advance. Your institution must officially approve the Nantucket Community School as a testing site before you can take your exam.
Payment is due before or on the day of your test. The fee is $50 per session for up to two hours, plus $25 for each additional hour. Please make payments at our downtown office at 56 Centre Street.

Our ESOL classes empower adult learners through continuing education classes, focusing on verbal communication and vocabulary that can be used daily.
Four levels are available:
Level 1: Basic English for Non-English Speakers
Level 2: Beginners
Level 3: Intermediate English
Level 4: Conversational English

The Nantucket Community School partners with Upper Cape Cod Tech to offer the Journeyman Electrician program here on Nantucket. We offer instruction for levels 1-4.
The course meets on Saturdays from 7:00am to 1:00pm at 56 Centre Street. Classes begin on August 15, 2026, and end on February 20, 2027.
All students are required to be working as an apprentice with a licensed electrician while taking classes.
If you qualify, your first year of classes and textbooks will be paid in full. Don’t miss this opportunity!

The Nantucket Community School partners with Will Sinclair to offer Electric Code Update training here on Nantucket.
This 15-hour continuing education course fulfills the Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) Code Update requirements for Massachusetts Class A (Master) and Class B (Journeyman) licensed electricians. This is an in-person class that spans two intensive seminar sessions. The cost is $250.
The course meets on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 7:00am to 3:00pm, and Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 7:00am to 1:30pm, at the Nantucket Intermediate School Cafeteria.

The Nantucket Community School partners with Construction Supervisor Training, LLC to offer Construction Supervisor License (CSL) training here on Nantucket.
The Unrestricted CSL is for those who wish to be licensed for construction, reconstruction, alteration, repair, removal, or demolition involving any activity regulated by the code for:
-35,000 cubic foot enclosed spaces.
-One- and two-family dwellings or any accessory building thereto, irrespective of size.
-Buildings used for farm purposes.
-Retaining walls less than 10 feet in height at all points along the wall
-This license includes all of the Specialty Licenses
Required experience to take the Unrestricted CSL Exam:
-Must be 18 years of age or older
-You must have three years of full-time construction or design experience
The course will be taught in person at Nantucket High School in Room 006 on Tuesdays from 5:00-8:30pm, beginning September 29, 2026, to November 10. 2026. The cost is $825, plus code books and materials.
