The Nantucket Community School, in partnership with The Residences at Sherburne Commons,
the Town of Nantucket, and the Landmark House, is pleased to announce a Memory Café
program for Nantucket.
A Memory Café is a welcoming place for individuals with Alzheimer’s and any form of dementia
or other brain disorders and also includes the caregiver for a shared experience. Cafés can be
helpful for people with all types of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI).
“The Memory Café offers a great opportunity for someone living with memory loss and their
caregiver to connect with other people in the community in a supportive and positive
environment,” said Gennifer Costanzo, Nantucket’s Memory Café program facilitator. “This type
of experience allows people to feel engaged which is very important. Living with memory loss
can be very isolating and a person can feel invisible at times. My hope is that the Memory Café
will bring community members together and allow them to feel seen and connected.”
The Memory Café will be held on the second Tuesday of each month at Sherburne Commons,
40 Sherburne Commons, from 10:00-11:30 a.m.
This program is made possible by donations from the Town of Nantucket and Landmark House.
